We’re seeking a motivated and hands-on Planting Team Leader to guide and support our planting crew across daily operations.
About the Role
As a Planting Team Leader, you’ll be working in the field leading a team to ensure planting operations run smoothly, safely, and efficiently. This is a practical, team-focused role where you’ll lead by example—balancing workloads, supporting team members, and helping us maintain high standards in productivity, quality, and safety.
You’ll take direction from the Planting Supervisor and work closely with the Production Coordinator and Agronomist, contributing to the success of our growing operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and participate in daily planting operations, taking responsibility for crew performance and workflow.
- Allocate jobs within the team to optimize efficiency and reduce repetitive strain.
- Support with setup, checks, and maintenance of planting equipment.
- Ensure planting targets are met on time without compromising quality.
- Promote and enforce health & safety practices, including reporting hazards and incidents.
- Mentor and motivate the team, providing feedback and encouraging development.
- Monitor attendance, punctuality, and team morale, addressing issues promptly.
- Complete required records (safety checks, tray counts, daily updates) accurately and on time.
What We’re Looking For
- A motivated, reliable individual who can lead by example in a hands-on role.
- Strong communication and people skills with the ability to mentor and support team members.
- Good organizational skills and the ability to manage workloads under pressure.
- A commitment to health, safety, and wellbeing in the workplace.
- Previous experience in horticulture, planting, or leading small teams is an advantage (but not essential for the right person).
What We Offer
- The chance to develop leadership skills in a supportive environment.
- A role that’s active, outdoors, and team-focused.
- Competitive pay with opportunities for extended hours during peak seasons.
- Work within a family-owned business that values quality, teamwork, and community.
Job Requirements
- NZ Bank account and IRD number required
- Full and current drivers licence required
- Must be currently in NZ and legally able to work
