Description
We’re on the lookout for a capable and motivated Leading Hand to join our team on a newly developed, state-of-the-art Rockit™ apple orchard. If you're passionate about horticulture, team leadership, and driving efficiency in the field, this is a great opportunity to grow your career while being part of something new and exciting.
About the Role
As Leading Hand, you’ll work closely with the Orchard Manager to coordinate daily tasks, lead small teams, and help deliver orchard operations to a high standard. You’ll be hands-on across key seasonal activities including pruning, thinning, tree training, and harvest.
You’ll be expected to lead by example, promote safe and efficient work practices, and help identify ways to improve productivity and reduce downtime. Your ability to keep the team focused and the workflow running smoothly will be essential to the orchard’s success. Hours of work guaranteed 40 hours per week but usually 45 hours per week.

- Practical experience in pipfruit or orchard operations
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to manage and motivate a team
- A positive, solutions-focused, can-do attitude
- Solid communication skills and attention to detail
- A commitment to working safely and efficiently
- Physically fit and comfortable working outdoors in all conditions
Desirable
- Familiarity with high-density orchard systems
- First Aid certificate
- Experience with Rockit™ or other premium apple varieties
- Horticultural experience (required)
