Seasonal Accommodation Facility Manager 

Advanced Horticulture Ltd – Lowburn Cherry Orchard LP | Lowburn, Central Otago 

Seasonal role | Approximately 6–8 weeks or longer | Mid-December to early February 

Lowburn Cherry Orchard LP is looking for a practical, organised and people-focused Seasonal Accommodation Facility Manager to oversee the day-to-day operation of our on-site seasonal worker accommodation during the Central Otago cherry harvest. 

This is a hands-on role suited to someone who enjoys working with people, takes pride in maintaining clean and well-presented facilities, and is confident managing the day-to-day requirements of a busy seasonal accommodation site. 

The role may suit an individual or couple, including someone travelling with their own motorhome or caravan. 

About the Role 

Working closely with Orchard Management, you will be responsible for helping ensure the accommodation facility and campsite are clean, safe, organised and running smoothly throughout the harvest season. 

Your responsibilities will include: 

• Managing the day-to-day operation and presentation of the accommodation facility and campsite 

• Coordinating occupant arrivals and departures 

• Maintaining accurate accommodation and occupant records 

• Completing regular cleaning and ensuring high standards of hygiene and presentation 

• Monitoring shared facilities and identifying maintenance or repair requirements 

• Coordinating maintenance, tradespeople and contractors when required 

• Conducting site inductions and communicating accommodation rules and expectations 

• Supporting health and safety procedures and emergency requirements 

• Responding to occupant questions, requests and day-to-day issues 

• Helping resolve problems calmly and professionally 

• Communicating regularly with Orchard Management about site operations and any issues that arise 

• Helping create a positive, respectful and well-organised environment for seasonal workers 

The accommodation site will be home to seasonal workers during the busy cherry harvest, so the ability to communicate clearly, set expectations and deal respectfully with people from a range of backgrounds is important. 

This is a hands-on position, and you may be required to assist with practical tasks around the site when needed. 

Hours and Seasonal Commitment 

The role is expected to run for approximately 6–8 weeks, from around mid-December through to early February, with the possibility of a longer period depending on operational requirements. 

Start and finish dates may be flexible for the right applicant. 

Due to the nature of seasonal harvest work, weekend and occasional after-hours availability will be required. The workload may vary throughout the season, with busier periods around worker arrivals, departures and peak harvest activity. 

About You 

We are looking for someone who is: 

• Practical, organised and reliable 

• Friendly, approachable and respectful 

• Comfortable working independently and taking responsibility for day-to-day issues 

• Confident communicating with people from different backgrounds and cultures 

• Able to maintain clear boundaries and enforce site rules when required 

• Comfortable managing cleaning, hygiene and general site standards 

• Confident following and promoting health and safety procedures 

• Calm under pressure and able to prioritise competing tasks 

• A good problem solver with a practical approach 

• Comfortable using basic technology for communication and record keeping 

• Available for the majority of the harvest period 

• A full New Zealand Driver Licence holder 

Previous experience in accommodation, property management, campsite management, hospitality, facilities management, seasonal worker accommodation or a similar role would be an advantage, but we are also interested in hearing from applicants with strong practical and people-management skills.

Hourly or contract rates will be discussed and confirmed with the successful applicant, depending on experience and the agreed scope of the role. 

Location 

Lowburn Cherry Orchard LP is located in Lowburn, Central Otago, approximately five minutes from Cromwell. 

The accommodation facility is located on-site at the orchard, meaning the successful applicant will be close to the seasonal workforce and the day-to-day orchard operation.
