Description

Packers remove sub-standard fruit (spoilage) and arrange the apples on the trays gently before packing trays into the boxes and sending the boxes off down the line.

Apple Placement/Packing (boxing)

  • Handle fruit with care
  • Straighten and present apples per the required specification
  • Boxing apple trays in order as per the specification required.
  • Physically remove all rotten and damaged fruit from water dump (if applicable)
  • Keep work area clean and tidy, and during any down time clean and pick up dropped fruit.
  • Be prepared to assist in other areas as required.

 

Tray Feeders load apple trays according to size and packing type for the apple packers to pack into.

  • Feed trays into the correct lanes according to specifications, i.e. count size, orientation, sequence and colour.
  • Work with the tray feeding team to ensure a continuous supply of trays to all lanes.
  • Reject any damaged or dirty trays and notify Packing Team Supervisor.
  • Keep work area clean and tidy, and during any downtime clean and pick up dropped fruit.
  • Continually observe for possible product contamination, i.e. blood, glass, plastic, foreign objects and report any incidents immediately.
  • Be prepared to help in other areas as required.
  • Ensure the trays are feed as per the sequence displayed on the PLC.

 

Palletisation Operator (Scanner) - Label Pallets to market/customer/exporter requirements

  • Ensure all packs (cartons/RDTs etc) are the correct count size, exporter and grade, and correctly stacked on the pallet.
  • Position variety and storage labels as per exporter/market instructions, including but not limited to Pallet label and Storage type corner labels.
  • Position pellet card and barcodes as per exporter/market instructions.
  • Check that all details are correct. If not correct error/s and issue a new pallet card.
  • Tally complete and part pallets at the end of each variety/production run and provide to Palletisation Team Leader.
  • Keep work are clean and tidy.
  • Be prepared to assist in other areas when required.

 

Strapper - Efficient management of strapping the completed pallets in a safe and timely manner ensuring product integrity

  • Be prepared to assist in other areas when required.

 

Stacker - Stacking cartons/packs onto pallets

  • Stack all cartons/pack according to count, pack type (grade and exporter) on to the correct pallet.
  • Stack cartons/packs in the alignment, as specified by the exporters.
  • Check cartons are glued correctly and not sub-standard (without signs of damage, mispacking or blood). Remove faulty products for repacking.
  • Glue machine operator/s to ensure glue reservoir remains full and glue machine is kept clean and operational.
  • Advise Palletisation Team Leader when supplies of glue, corner boards and/or clips are running low.
  • Keep Palletisation area clean and tidy, cleaning during any down time.
  • Be prepared to assist in other areas when required.

 

Topper Pad/Box sealer - Oversee and operate carton/box sealers, and topper pad inserters

  • Perform regular maintenance on Carton Sealer as per the maintenance schedule
  • Advise Systems & Dispatch Coordinator of any operational issues with Carton/Box Sealer and/or development of new noises.
  • Operate Carton/Box Sealers to ensure continuous operations.
  • Keep work area clean and tidy, and during any downtime clean and pick up dropped fruit.
  • Continually observe for possible product contamination, ie blood, glass, plastic, foreign objects and report any incidents immediately.
  • Glue machine operator/s to ensure glue reservoir remains full and glue machine is kept clean and operational.
  • Advise Product Logistics Manager when supplies of glue are low.

 

Pre Erectors - Load packaging into pre-erector machines to form cartons and boxes for apples

  • Perform daily maintenance on the Box Former per the maintenance schedule
  • Operate the Pre Erector to ensure continuous supply of fabricated cartons to the correct lanes according to packing specifications.
  • Reject any damaged or dirty cartons and notify Packing Team Leader.
  • Record Packaging Batch numbers as per requirement for packaging traceability.
  • Keep work area clean and tidy, and during any downtime clean and pick up dropped fruit.
  • Continually observe for possible product contamination, ie blood, glass, plastic, foreign objects and report any incidents immediately.
  • Be prepared to assist in other areas when required.

 Health and Safety

  • Follow CAJ Apples Health and Safety requirements.
  • Report all identified hazards to management.

Onsite training and education will be provided for the assigned task and activities.
