Kaiaponi Orchards is situated 10 mins drive from the heart of Gisborne and now recruiting for kiwifruit/ apple thinning season.

We are looking for energetic, physically fit people that are keen to get stuck in for the thinning season to join our experienced staff.

The Job

Kiwifruit thinning:

26th September – 18th November (weather dependent)

Hours/ Days of work: Monday – Saturday, 7.30am – 4.30pm

Due to the setup of the fruit vines the height requirement for this role is between 5ft 7 and 6ft 2.

This is a physically demanding job that includes thinning flowers off the kiwifruit vines and then fruitlets further into the season and comes with a competitive pay rate. There may be other work offered during the season such as planting or general duties.

Apple thinning:

18th November – 20th December

Hours/ Days of work: Monday – Saturday, 7am/ 7.30am – 4.30pm

Pay rate: Contract rate offered (per tree)

This role involves ladder work and is also physically demanding, thinning excess fruit to allow the selected fruit to have room to mature.

We expect staff to be able to reach a target of $25 + p/hr after the first week of training (this is achievable for people with the right mindset).
