Job Description: Work is available soon for the thinning season of fruit trees which involves removing fruitlets by hand from trees to reach a specified number and distribution on each tree. This task is important to achieve good colour and size for the harvest season. Other orchard tasks will also be required from time to time to support seasonal requirements. Working as part of a team, you will be trained in all aspects, so no experience is necessary. 3 to 6-month contract with further work available moving into the harvest season for candidates wishing for long term employment.

The person: We are looking for enthusiastic people wanting outdoor work experience over summer or looking for a taste of an orchard career to see if it’s right for them. The work can be physically demanding, shifting ladders, working at heights on ladders or platforms in the heat of the day, so workers must be physically able, have no fear of heights. Hydralada experience an advantage.
Pre-requisites / Qualifications / Experience required:

Must be CURRENTLY in NZ with current work visa. Good communication skills and attitude, reliability, and willingness to learn / work well within a team and autonomously. OWN TRANSPORT. No Gang Patches or Regalia – no exceptions Convictions will be considered on a case-by-case basis.

Must have no fear of heights, physically fit and able to shift orchard ladders from tree to tree. Must be currently in NZ with appropriate visa to be able to work in NZ. Please apply in the first instance, with CV / Cover letter
