Join our picking teams and spend your summer with people from all over the world while earning some extra cash. We pick premium quality cherries in our orchards throughout Cromwell and surrounding areas.

About the job:

Picking cherries involves climbing a ladder and wearing a harness to hold the bucket. The harness carries your bucket and allows you to pick hands free. Due to the weight of approx. 5.5kg for a full bucket, it is required to be reasonably fit.

We will train you on how to use your ladder safely and which cherries to pick.

Pickers are paid individually by piece rate (guaranteed minimum wage), so the more buckets picked, the more you can earn! We provide competitive rates and a range of tree structures from UFO "Easypick Fruiting Walls" to traditional centre and multileader trees.

As the summers are usually hot in Central Otago, our picking teams start working early in the morning (between 6am and 7am). We work 7 days a week, but we usually don't pick on rainy days. Luckily the sun is shining through until 9.30pm, so you will still get to enjoy afternoons or evenings down at the lake.

About you:

Cherry picking is a fast-paced environment, so you should be able to work under pressure by keeping a positive attitude.

As climbing ladders and carrying buckets all day can be quite challenging, a good level of fitness and a strong mindset are highly recommended.
