Job Summary

We are seeking Cherry Picking Staff to join our team for the upcoming cherry harvest season at Pure Pac. As a Cherry Picking Staff member, you will play a crucial role in harvesting cherries according to established quality and productivity standards. This position requires attention to detail, the ability to work efficiently and a commitment to maintaining a clean and organized work environment.

Bucket rates are between 5-7$/bucket and end of season bonus (if eligible) will be 1$ every hour you worked.

Key Responsibilities:

Picking Target Fruit

Harvest cherries from trees following specific instructions and quality standards.

Ensure all ripe and target fruit is picked from designated trees.

 

Efficient Picking:

Fill picking buckets efficiently and at a pace that meets productivity goals.

Maintain a steady workflow to contribute to overall harvest efficiency.

 

Bucket Management:

Keep picking rows clear for bucket pickup traffic to facilitate smooth operations.

Place filled buckets under shade to preserve cherry quality and freshness.

 

Quality and Labeling:

Use personal picker barcode labels and affix them correctly to each bucket.

Ensure accurate labeling to track harvested cherries throughout the packing process.

 

Team Collaboration:

Work closely with other picking staff to coordinate activities and optimize harvest operations.

Communicate effectively with supervisors and team members to address any issues or concerns.

Skills and qualifications

Required

Valid work visa to work in New Zealand

Preferred

Previous fruit picking or other horticultural work is advantageous.

Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions and lift moderate loads.

Capability to follow instructions precisely and maintain high picking standards.

Work Environment:

This role involves standing, bending and reaching while picking cherries which can be physically exhausting.

Full-time hours during peak harvest season in summers, including early mornings and possibly weekends.

Adherence to safety protocols and use of personal protective equipment (PPE) is mandatory.
