Job Summary:

We are hiring Packhouse Staff to join our team at Pure Pac during the cherry harvest season. As a member of our packing and processing team, you will play a vital role in ensuring the efficient sorting, packing and quality control of cherries. This position requires attention to detail the ability to work in a fast-paced environment and a commitment to maintaining high standards of food safety and quality. Packhouse Staff are integral to our operations, contributing to the delivery of premium cherries to our customers.

End of season bonus (if eligible) will be 1.5$ for every hour worked.

Key Responsibilities:

Sorting and Grading:

Inspect cherries for quality, size, and ripeness.

Sort cherries according to grade and discard any defective fruits.

Packing and Labeling:

Pack cherries into designated containers or packaging according to customer requirements.

Label packages accurately and ensure they meet regulatory standards.

Safety and Hygiene:

Adhere to food safety and hygiene protocols at all times.

Maintain a clean and organized work area to prevent contamination.

Equipment Operation:

Operate packing machinery and equipment safely and efficiently.

Conduct basic maintenance and cleaning of equipment as and when required.

 

Skills and Qualifications:

Required

Ability to identify and sort cherries accurately according to quality standards.

Capability to stand for extended periods and perform repetitive tasks.

Willingness to work collaboratively in a dynamic team environment.

Flexibility to work in varying temperatures and adjust to changing work demands.

Understanding of food safety and hygiene practices in a packhouse setting and adherence to it.

Preferred:

Previous experience in fruit packing or agricultural processing.

Basic verbal communication skills to interact with team members and supervisors.

Dependable and punctual in reporting for work when required.
