This role is for Dec 26th start ONLY. Very limited accomodations available. Preference will be given to candidates whose english is advanced and who can manage their own accomodation in Cromwell.

Position Overview

As a Bucket Assistant, you play a key role in supporting cherry pickers during the harvest. You’ll help collect filled buckets of cherries from pickers, deliver them to the collection points, and return empty buckets so the pickers can continue working efficiently. This role is outdoors, active, and requires good communication with the picking team and supervisors.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collect full buckets of cherries from pickers in the orchard.

  • Deliver full buckets to weighing/collection stations safely and promptly.

  • Distribute empty buckets back to pickers.

  • Check for any visible fruit damage or contamination during collection.

  • Assist in maintaining cleanliness and organisation in the orchard collection areas.

  • Communicate with supervisors about bucket counts and orchard progress.

  • Follow all health, safety, and food hygiene requirements.

Job Requirements

Skills & Requirements

Physically fit – able to walk long distances and carry buckets of fruit (up to ~7–8kg per bucket).

Able to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.

Reliable, punctual, and able to work well in a fast-paced harvest environment.

Good english communication skills and a positive, team-oriented attitude.

Attention to detail to help maintain fruit quality.

MUST HAVE valid working rights in NZ
Working Conditions

Seasonal role (26th Dec– somewhere in Jan depending on harvest).

Early starts and long days during peak harvest.

Work is outdoors across the orchard blocks.

Piece rate or hourly rate depending on employer arrangements.
